Summer is upon us and with hot, humid days looming ahead, most of us prefer to stay indoors in our home. While we stay indoors, it is a good time to look around and take note of any repairs or interior changes, which the house requires. Bringing in some additions to the garden/balcony would be a good idea. Every home owner may have many ideas to make his/her living space an ideal and beautiful one but they get lazy to execute it. If this summer you want to add to the beauty of your home, scroll down for some great ideas:
Complete all maintenance work: Summer is the best time to finish up all the pending maintenance work at home. Fix those lights, bathroom fittings, small repairs, etc. Take time out to finish all the maintenance work to give your home the complete look.
Redecorate your home: Use this time to give your home a slight makeover. There may be areas of the home you would want to redo. You can change the cupboard settings, bring in more potted plants, add more decor pieces, or change furnishing to give the home a different look.
Set up a mini garden: If plants make you happy, this is time to set up a lovely mini garden in the space you have. Summer is a good time to pick some flowering plants and add pops of colour to your home. Go down to the local nursery and get some potted plants to set up your garden. You can arrange the pots in your balcony or window slab. You can also grow a small vegetable garden which will give you some daily user herbs, chillies, etc.
Colour your home: Summer is the best time to repaint your home or work space. You can either repaint the whole space or add a few coloured walls in your favourite rooms. Go for bright colours or pastel shades, depending on the lighting and size of the room.
Clean gutters/downspouts: When the sun is out it is a good idea to clean up all the gutters and downspouts as they must be blocked with dust and trash. Cleaning them out in the summer will help prepare well for the upcoming monsoon season. You can either do it yourself or make use of a gutter cleaning service.
Get your home summer ready: Last but not the least, it is very important to keep your home summer ready. Once the hot season sets in, make sure that all electrical appliances like air conditioner, ceiling fans and dehumidifier are working properly. Also take time to install blinds or shades to keep the intense heat away.
Now that you know different ways to make your home summer-ready, what are you waiting for? Lend your home a new, happy look!
