Just you, a cup of hot chai, your favourite music and the rain…the monsoons do sound romantic don’t they? But unfortunately with the rains come a bunch of germs, dirt and a possible chance of infections. So here are a few tips to help you keep your house clean and germ-free during the monsoon.
Disinfectant. Yes, it’s going to be a super essential item for your house during the monsoon. The rains create a favourable environment for fungus and germs to breed and it is important to regularly disinfect the cupboards, floors, etc. Vinegar and water make a great homemade disinfectant; it’s efficient and natural too! Clean your house maybe once in three days using this and it will not only kill germs and fungus but also get rid of that damp wet smell.
Getting drenched in the rain is inevitable during this season but before you dry yourself, make sure you keep your wet clothes away and don’t carelessly leave them in the rooms. The same goes for shoes. Wet shoes and slippers are a breeding house for germs and fungus. So make sure you dry them as soon as possible and avoid any chance of catching an infection.
Carpets and mats are often the first to absorb water from muddy footprints and rain. Vacuuming them everyday is a good idea to avoid fungal growth. The same goes for hardwood floors and wooden furniture. Try to wipe them dry regularly.
If you have pets then you can’t really stop them from going out and getting dirty in the rain. The best thing to do is to clean their paws and give them a quick wipe before they get back into the house. This prevents any dirt or mud entering the house as well as keeps the pets safe from infections too.
So there you have it, some very important but easy tips to keep your house clean, germ-free and allergy-free during the monsoon. You can now peacefully go back to that cup of hot chai and enjoy the rain!
