When combined with a healthy diet, exercise offers a world of health and lifestyle benefits to people of all ages. Everyone has certain abilities and limitations when it comes to exercise and it is important to consult a professional to create a beneficial workout routine and diet regimen. Depending on the age group and other factors, these routines will vary.
In children, exercise will help with weight management. They grow stronger, have improved stamina and a balanced blood pressure. The advantage with children is that they do not need a structured form of exercise to be able to garner the benefits. One hour of play such as cycling, skipping, running or any other sport can work its magic.
By the time you are an adult, you will need a combination of cardio exercises and some endurance training. Running and jogging are among the most favoured forms of exercise. These improve circulation and oxygen intake. With an improved blood flow you will have a healthier heart and be able to burn off unnecessary calories. Cholesterol will also be kept at bay.
When you move into middle and older age, you will need at least an hour of exercise five days a week to improve health and fitness. This will increase muscle fitness and bone strength, which will reduce chances of severe injuries that one is prone to in old age.
One of the main concerns with hectic lifestyles is being able to find time to exercise. Here is how you can introduce exercise into your schedule in the most natural of ways.
Minimum preparation: The exercise form or routine that you use has to be simple and something that needs no elaborate preparation. Running, jogging, swimming, skipping and simple weight training are ideal. Sessions of aerobics, Pilates and even Zumba are easily achievable. Committing to go to a studio to get the exercise you need is all that it takes to begin and sustain an exercise regimen.
Pick one you like: Instead of going with what is popular, choose an exercise form that you like. You may have a friend or colleague join you at Zumba class, but if it is not something you enjoy then you are not going to be motivated to continue with it. You may prefer yoga, or Tai Chi or other form of exercise. Go for what you enjoy.
Set goals: With any exercise form, set a goal and achieve it. Whether it is the number of reps you do or the calories you lose, set a goal and work towards it. This can provide much needed self-motivation.
Stick to a schedule: If you are comfortable working out during the day, do so. If early evening or nights work better, do that. There is no hard and fast rule on when and how you must exercise. Work out when you are comfortable to do so.
Do some form of exercise: There may be days when you are pressed for time. In such cases, make the effort to do at least part of your exercise routine so that you do not lose the pace or rhythm of what you are doing.
There are several ways to incorporate exercise into your regular schedule. Make the effort to create a pace at which you are comfortable beginning at and achieve higher goals in it. Your dedication is bound to pay off well.
