Come December and all we can think of is Christmas. Irrespective of which part of the world you live in or what faith you follow, it’s definitely the best festive season to enjoy.
White Christmas is quite common in the countries in Northern Hemisphere, where people get out and have fun in the snow. For tropical countries, the weather doesn’t usually become a factor. It’s all about going out, holidaying and having fun with family and friends.
Family members working and living abroad make it a point to visit their home towns during December. Get-togethers and dinners follow. There are lots of things to do and see. In the first week of the month, most people put up the Christmas star and start buying new or compiling their old Christmas decorations. The lit up star is a joy to behold, only shadowed by the presence of the Tree.
The Christmas Tree tradition is big in all homes. From cut-up real tree branches and book trees to bottle X’mas tree and card trees, you can choose to decorate them any which way. Don’t forget to pick up the gifts that appear at the bottom of the tree on Christmas morning.
Learn to cook a new Christmas dish and do it with your kids. Let them share in the joy of family cooking. Buy a few metres of fairy lights and light up the roof or windows of your home. Imagine what a sight it will be for the whole month, at night! If you are associated with a church, involve yourself and friends in the local Christmas carol singing. Visit nearby homes and spread the cheer among neighbours.
If you’re planning to gift people, then make homemade gifts. Colour up paper and cut up old cards, decorate with glitter and strings. Make reindeer and mistletoe cut-outs for sticking them onto the fronts of greeting cards. You can also try your hand at DIY tree decorations—snowmen, drums, stars and wreaths. This can be done together with family, cousins and the whole fun gang.
Don’t let the season pass without clicking that merry Christmas photo with your loved ones.
